Theater &
Directions
The
Belk Theater is the largest venue in the elegant
North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. It features
state-of-the-art equipment, production, and support capabilities that
can host any production from World-Class Symphonies to rock and pop. The
Belk Theater is designed in a contemporary European horseshoe
arrangement that provides an intimate atmosphere and world-class
acoustics. The most distant of its 2,100 seats is less than 135 feet
from the stage. The theater's audience chamber features a rotunda with
2,400 "points of light," part of a dazzling fiber-optic network with
multi-color capabilities.
The Belk
Theater is made up of four levels:
Orchestra
This is the stage-level of the theater. It is divided into left, center,
and right sections, with aisle separating each section.
Grand Tier
The first three rows (A-C) of this level are commonly called the Grand
Tier Circle. These rows traverse the entire width of the Grand Tier,
from left to right, with no center aisle. The remaining eight rows (D-K)
are divided into left, center, and right sections. The Grand Tier also
features two sets of box seats on either side of the house.
Mezzanine
This level offers five rows (A-F). Each row traverses the entire
width of the Mezzanine, from left to right, with no center aisle.
The Mezzanine also features three sets of box seats on either side of
the house.
Balcony
This is the highest level of the theater, with 11 rows (A-K). Each
row traverses the entire width of the Balcony, from left to right, with
no center aisle. The Balcony also features three sets of box seats on
either side of the house.
